Named after my daughter, Ellie, this bookcase was designed and made for her.

Designed to hold the largest picture books with ease on the tall bottom shelf and support nick knacks on top, held in by the extended case acting as bookends. This case has a slight lean, with the top tapered back from the bottom, distributing the weight back, toward the wall, to reduce any chance of tipping forward.

Standing 42 inches high, 18 inches wide, and 11 inches deep at the base, this case is large enough to hold many books, but small enough for a three year old to access each and every shelf.

Sliding Dovetails = Strength

No screws or nails needed, the shelves are held in with sliding dovetails, providing long lasting joints with self tightening properties. This case will last many lifetimes.

Keep It Simple

Six boards is all it takes to make this case. Simple, but visually complex. There was no need for extravagance or complexity when working with such fine wood, I got out of it’s way and let the case speak for itself.

The Details Make It

The case sports a slight cove cut on the outside to slim the piece and give it an elegant, modern look, thinning the case sides an accentuating the natural figure and grain pattern of the wood.
